Frank Stephenson è il nuovo responsabile di Alfa Romeo Style

Frank Stephenson assume la responsabilità di Alfa Romeo Style riportando direttamente a Lorenzo Ramaciotti, responsabile della funzione Style per tutti i marchi di Fiat Group Automobiles e Maserati.

Nato il 3 ottobre 1959 in Marocco, ma con passaporto statunitense, Stephenson ha vissuto anche in Spagna e si è laureato presso l'Art Center College of Design a Pasadena, California. Appassionato di viaggi e motori, Frank Stephenson parla spagnolo, inglese, tedesco e italiano.

Dopo una lunga esperienza professionale nel design dell’automobile presso importanti costruttori internazionali, da luglio 2002 è entrato alla Ferrari dove ha contribuito alla nascita di alcune delle ultime vetture stradali del Cavallino. Nell’aprile 2005 viene nominato responsabile del Centro Stile Fiat, Lancia e Light Commercial Vehicles, carica che ha mantenuto fino ad oggi.

It looks like Chrysler isn't the only car company trying to partner with China's Chery Auto. The latest reports suggest Fiat is also considering a new deal with Chery that would involve a joint-venture to start building Fiat badged cars in China.

Back in May, Fiat confirmed that it would start building its midsized Alfa Romeo 159 sedan at a plant in Wuhu, just outside of Shanghai, but there was no mention if any other brands were China bound. If this new deal gets the go ahead, Chery will most likely build Fiat's Linea sedan in China and supply up to 100,000 engines annually to Fiat's China operations.

Some of the major hurdles Fiat is facing are a lack of suitable suppliers. It's more lucrative for a supplier, both in and outside of China to sell parts to European countries that already manufacture the specific Alfa Romeo and Fiat models. Then there are the issues with reliability and quality levels of Chinese built cars, and until these are addressed we won't be seeing any Fiat models built in China.

na italjanskih cestah se že vozi...se mizdi da punto z novo mašino 1.4 T-jet 120KM
to pa more letet..ko pride vn tisti z 150KM pa bo raketa :D

1.8 turbo ne vem, če bo našel pot v Bravota, morda v abarth različico. Ga bodo pa že v letu 2008 dobili nova deltam, 159, brera, spider, junior, 149 in tako dalje.
Vprašanje podnebnih sprememb zaradi naše potrošnje ni vprašanje stroškov, ampak vprašanje naše morale.

Fiat pripravlja avto med pando in GP-jem, morda ga bodo poimenovali Uno. Prav tako pripravlja CUX, ki bo SUV s praktičnostji enoprostorca in konkurenca Kugi, Kaškeju itd.

Carscoop je napisal/-a:During Fiat Automobile's investor presentation in early September, Fiat’s outgoing CEO Luca De Meo (he’s now Chief Marketing Officer of the Fiat Group), gave out details on two very important future products of the Italian firm. We’ve obtain the whole presentation that includes various information, but we’ll concentrate on the page where Fiat reveals the B-Compact and the CX-Over.

The B-Compact, which will most probably be called Uno after the Punto’s predecessor, is a budget model that will slot in range between the Panda and Grande Punto. Set to enter the market in 2009, the B-Compact will be offered in two body variants combining style and practicality with low consumption and running costs. With the B-Compact, Fiat will have 4 different models in the small car category: the A-Segment Panda and 500 and the B-Segment Uno (B-Compact) and the Grande Punto. And in our opinion, there’s nothing wrong with that as Fiat is at last concentrating on what it always did best; budget compact cars.

The second model that Luca De Meo gave details on is the CX-Over, a compact crossover that will go on sale in 2010. According to Fiat, the 4.5 metre long (177.2-inches) CX-Over will be “emotional like an SUV and practical like an MPV”. Available in both FWD and 4WD versions, the CX-Over will be priced between €22,000 and 30,000 (about $30,700 to 41,900) and it will compete with crossovers like the Ford Kuga and Nissan Qasqhai.

Fiat Group: Luca De Meo Appointed As Chief Marketing Officer

Fiat Group continues to revamp its top management structure as the Italian carmaker announced today that appointed Luca De Meo to the post of chief marketing officer of the group. In this newly created role, De Meo will be responsible for all brand marketing related activities across all Fiat Group sectors. Additionally, De Meo will become a full member of the Group Executive Council. In the official statement, Fiat said, “His contribution to the rejuvenation and relaunch of the Fiat Brand in a short period of time puts him in an ideal position to promote the various Fiat Group Brands and develop new marketing capabilities across the Group”.

Replacing Luca De Meo as Head of the Fiat Brand will be Lorenzo Sistino who served as the head of the group's New Holland Agricultural Equipment business.

Fiat 500 designer to handle all Fiat design

Execs at Fiat have been so impressed with the cute and cheeky design of the 500 that they have promoted its designer, Roberto Giolito, to the head of design at Fiat Automobiles. During his time at the Fiat advanced design studio, Giolito created the Trepiuno concept that was unveiled back in 2004 and later turned in to production reality.

The 500 has been an unexpected sales success for Fiat, with orders far outweighing supply and causing Fiat to ramp up production 25% to 150,000 cars a year.

In other Fiat design news, Christopher Reitz, who previously held the title Roberto Giolito will be taking, is now looking after advanced design for the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, Abarth and Fiat Professional brands. Fiat Group subsidiary Maserati will also get a head designer in the form of Lorenzo Ramaciotti, taking over from the fantastic design work done by Italdesign-Giugiaro and Pininfarina.

Fiat’s product and design-led turnaround has surprised almost everyone and taken the company from years of massive losses to large profits now and for the forseeable future. If the 500 is any indication of what’s in store for the company, we think they will continue to prosper.

Šef (Ceo) Alfa Romea Baravalle je zapustil alfomobilistične vode in odšel v Einaudi. Zamenjal ga bo Luca De Meo, ki je vpeljal GP, Br, 500 in še kaj, zato velja za enega izmed favoritov za stolček BigBoss-a FIAT skupine, ko bo Marchione odšel v pokoj.

The recently appointed Chief Marketing Officer for the Fiat Group and an undoubted rising star Luca De Meo is to become the new CEO of the Alfa Romeo brand, replacing Antonio Baravalle who is leaving the group for a new position with an Italian publishing group.

Baravalle took over as CEO of the Alfa Romeo division from a similar position at Lancia in September 2005, but has been looking to leave the group for sometime. De Meo meanwhile has steered the Fiat brand through its burgeoning revival over the last few years, introducing acclaimed models such as the Grande Punto and Bravo, and most recently overseeing the launch of the hugely successful new 500.

For the second consecutive year, Fiat Automóveis has been chosen as Montadora do Ano (Brazilian Car Manufacturer of the Year) an important annual award from the Brazilian magazine AutoData.

Fiat Automóveis was one of the finalists chosen by the editorial board of AutoData and it was elected as the overall winner from the votes of the readers of the magazine, which participated in a meeting of AutoData that took place in October.

As well as Fiat Automóveis, two other companies that are part of the Fiat Group also received prizes: Magneti Marelli, claimed the trophy of Sistemista do Ano (System Maker of the Year) and Iveco, that had the Stralis Truck model as Veículo Caminhão do Ano (Truck of the Year).

This isn't the only manufacturing award that Fiat Automóveis has recently won as it has also been chosen as the best manufacturer in the election of Maiores & Melhores do Transporte e Logística (Best and Largest in Transport and Logistics) prize by the magazine Transporte Moderno.

Since the commencement of its operations in Brazil, Fiat has produced almost 10 million vehicles in the plant of Betim (Minas Gerais), of which approximately 30 percent were destined for export. This year the company leads the Brazilian market for automobiles and light commercial vehicles with 26 percent of all the sales.

Fiat Automóveis is to invest 5 billion reais (US$2.8 billion) in Brazil with the aim of expanding further its production capacity at the giant Betim factory near Belo Horizonte which will turn it into the largest assembly plant in the Fiat Group worldwide.

In total Fiat plans to invest 6.4 billion reais, with 1 billion of this going to the Case New Holland plant in the city of Sorocaba near São Paulo, and 400 million being spent at Córdoba in Argentina. The rest of the money, 5 billion reais, will be spent by Fiat Automóveis, FPT Powertrain Technologies, Teksid, Iveco and Magneti Marelli on their plants spread across the Minas Gerais region in the cities of Betim, Contagem, Sete Lagoas and Lavras.

V Bravu je bil predstavljen 1.6 JTDm motor s 105 in 120 konjskimi močno. 120 konjski ima 119 CO2/km emisij izpusta, torej enako kot Golf Bluemotion :)

Compared to the well-known 1.9 Multijet 120 bhp, the 1.6 Multijet series represents an important step forward, with considerable advantages:
• torque improved by almost 25% (300 Nm at 1500 rpm) and consumption reduced by 8% measured on the NEDC cycle);
• acceleration from 0-100 kph in just 10.5 seconds, while pick-up from 80-120 km/h in 5th gear is almost 4 seconds lower;
• enhanced acoustic comfort with noise values improved by 5%.
What’s more, thanks to the new 1.6 Multijet, the Fiat Bravo has notched up some remarkable records in its category:
• it is the first Euro5-compliant car, well ahead of the legal deadline, and has the lowest HCNOx emissions in its category.
• it is one of the few cars in this power segment with a 6-speed manual gearbox (in both the 105 and 120 bhp versions);
• it has the highest specific torque (i.e. in relation to the displacement), in the power categories up to 200 bhp;
• maximum torque is delivered at lowest revs: just 1500 rpm for an availability of 290 Nm and 300 Nm generated respectively by the 105 bhp and 120 bhp versions;
• this is borne out by the acceleration values, the best among all engines up to 120 bhp;
• it is the only car with 35,000 km service intervals, reducing ordinary maintenance costs by 25% (calculated on distances travelled of 90,000 or 100,000 km, the most frequently used distances in long-term leasing agreements).

In short, the new 1.6 Multijet 16v adds that something extra to a winning model that has once again confirmed Fiat’s global leadership in the field of diesel engines. It must be remembered that the engine has been developed by FPT – Fiat Powertrain Technologies, a new division of the Fiat Group responsible for developing, researching, designing and producing engines and gearboxes for all applications: cars, industrial vehicles, boats and agricultural vehicles. With around 19,000 employees, 16 plants and 11 research centres in eight different countries, this division is one of the largest engine manufacturers in the world. Approximately 3000 highly specialised technicians at FPT work exclusively on developing and engineering innovative technologies. More than 40 patents deposited each year are proof of the quality and dedication that make Fiat Powertrain Technologies a centre of technological excellence and non-stop innovation.

Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT), a Fiat Group company, the Region of Piedmont, the Province of Biella, and the City of Verrone (Biella) signed today a Protocol of Understanding aimed at boosting and developing the Verrone plant. A new transmission named the C635 will be produced there for use on mid-sized cars. It will be offered in three versions: manual, Dual Dry Clutch (DDCT, a robotized transmission with dual dry clutch), and robotized.

It is estimated that Fiat Powertrain Technologies will invest approximately 500 million euros between fixed assets and research and development costs, which will permit achieving a production capacity of about 800,000 transmissions in 2012. Once it is in full operation, it could employ 1,100 workers, or about 600 more than current levels.

Production of the manual version of the new C635 transmission is planned to begin in June 2009, while production of the Dual Dry Clutch version will begin in September 2009 and the robotized version in 2010. The C635 DDCT transmission introduces a new technology in the automatic transmission sector and will be able to replace both current robotized transmissions and traditional transmissions. One of its special features is that it will significantly reduce fuel consumption as compared with traditional automatic transmissions.

By signing the Protocol of Understanding, the common objective of Fiat Powertrain Technologies, the Region of Piedmont, the Province of Biella, and the City of Verrone is to establish certain general principles, commitments, and procedures for future implementation by means of instruments that will be defined over time.

The Region of Piedmont, the Province of Biella, and the City of Verrone support this project on account of the social, economic, and employment impact that it can have on the industrial system of the Biella area and all of Piedmont. The participating local entities (particularly the Region of Piedmont) promise to reduce the time for administrative procedures and authorizations necessary for realization of the investment planned by Fiat Powertrain Technologies to a minimum. The Province of Biella and the City of Verrone will promote and organize a series of initiatives principally for transport and city planning. Furthermore, the Region of Piedmont promises to submit the Protocol of Understanding to the Ministry of Research and the Ministry of Economic Development for signing of joint program agreements in support of the initiative. A joint technical committee will also be set up at the Region of Piedmont Department of Productive Activities. This committee will be responsible for full implementation of the initiative.

FIAT POWERTRAIN TECHNOLOGIES

Fiat Powertrain Technologies is the Fiat Group company that embraces all the powertrain activities of Fiat Group Automobiles, Iveco, CRF (Fiat Research Centre), and Elasis. Approximately 25% of its revenues are generated by sales to non-captive customers. With annual production of approximately 3.1 million engines and 2.5 million transmissions, 20,000 employees, 15 plants, and 10 research and development centres in seven countries, FPT is one of the world’s most important powertrain makers.

THE FPT VERRONE PLANT

The FPT plant at Verrone is on the cutting edge of European mechanical production. In addition to being ISO 14001 and ISO TS 16949 certified, the plant received the JIPM (Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance) Advanced Special Award in 2005. The plant began production in 1974. The Verrone plant currently produces the C530 transmission, one of the high-end transmissions made by Fiat Powertrain Technologies and installed on numerous Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia models. The Verrone plant also makes differential shafts. The FPT plant at Verrone covers a total area of 1.875 million square meters, with over 100,000 square meters of roofed space. It currently has 500 employees.

THE NEW TRANSMISSION

The new Fiat Powertrain Technologies C635 transmission is a 350 Nm torque 3-axle model, produced in both the manual, 6-speed version and the MTA and Dual Dry Clutch versions. It uses an innovative technology that combines the easy shifting of an automatic transmission with the superior operating economy of manual transmissions. By increasing the capacity of transmittable torque, which reaches 350 Nm, the C635 will be used on various models of cars in the B, C, and D segments. One of the characteristics of the new transmission is the possibility of acquiring a decidedly sporty feel, realised by reducing the shifting time and absolute absence of interruption of torque being transmitted to the wheels.
