BMW Isetta

BMW kot lastnik blagovne znamke Isetta naj bi resno razmišljal o razvoju mikro avtomobila pod tem imenom. Druga možnost pa je, da bi pod tem imenom prodajali ekološko čiste avtomobile.

Dr. Reithofer (BMW CEO) speech at BMW AG Strategic Review presentation:

"The mobility of the future was an issue we tackled alongside different options for growth.

This is an area involving growth through new vehicle concepts.

Demands placed on mobility are undergoing fundamental change. Moreover, driving in increasingly densely populated areas is different than going out on a dynamic drive in one’s spare time.

The BMW Group will invest substantially in future technologies with a view to developing entirely new mobility solutions. This applies to design, concept and drive systems.

In concrete terms, we are striving to achieve an additional retail volume in a six-digit range by 2020. We made a conscious decision to leave the choice of concepts, technologies and drive systems with which we will achieve this open."

Hm ... Read the text very carefully: Herr Retihofer very clearly expressed BMW Group intention to offer some sort of City vehicle ("Urban Individual Mobility Solution") in the future.

What kind of vehicle will this be remains open right now.


Are BMW Group thinking of building an electro car? Kind a electro "smart"? A personal urban mover? A new isetta.

I have a feeling BMW Group will revive Isetta car - yet as 21th century edition. Perhaps even the brand name Isetta will be used.

So, the Dr. Dreager's claims have been somehow confirmed.

It is very possible the 4th brand BMW are about to launch is set to offer (near) zero emission vehicles, and new introduced new concepts of mobility.

Here is another official word from BMW: The new brand will spearhead BMW's attempt to boost growth following criticism that it is too focused on luxury gas-guzzlers. A spokesman said: "We are looking at what a new brand would involve; we are looking at quite different forms of transportation."

So we can speculate this 4th brand could offer super-hybrid, electric or H2 fuel-cell driven urban vehicles.

And this "City car" by BMW Group could be this 4th brand. Whatever it will be named.

From the latest words by BMW officials the 4th brand will offer "new mobility solutions" especially for urban areas.

As we know BMW will soon offer a city micro-car(s). They need such cars in their portfolio to reduce fleet average fuel consumption & gas emissions.

They are - confirmed by Zetsche - interested in Smart platform. Reports also say BMW may acquire a car-parts supplier company that develops alternative drive solutions (hybrids, electric cars, fuel cell cars etc).

And I doubt such cars will be designated Triumph.

BMW have much more appropriate inactive brand name in their portfolio - much more appropriate for such micro-cars: Isetta

This brand has a great history, and is associated with BMW all along.

FRANKFURT: Germany carmaker BMW is seeking to buy a car-parts supplier, weekly magazine WirtschaftsWoche reported on Saturday, without saying where it obtained the information.

A possible target could be an engineering company that could develop BMW's planned fourth brand for environmentally friendly cars, the magazine reported in a pre-released article from its Monday edition, citing unidentified people with knowledge of the company.

A spokesman for BMW, the world's largest premium-car maker, declined to comment. BMW Chief Executive Norbert Reithofer said at the end of September that he was considering acquisitions as part of his new strategy.

Verjetno je to predvsem poskus zadovoljevanja emisijskih standardov ob hkratnem ohranjanju trenda rasti moči motorjev v "pravih" BMW-jih. Kar verjamem, da to res pride ven.
Upam, da ohranijo vrata spredaj - to bi bilo zabavno in bi zaradi ekscentrične posebnosti verjetno bilo celo tržno uspešno. Žal so zaradi varnosti taka vrata nemogoča.

To je res, znamka je precej vrjetna zaradi znižvanja povprečja koncerna BMW, tako kot to dela MB s Smartom.
Vrata?. Če so jim to pustili na Rolls Roycu, jim bodo pa tudi tu :)

Rolls Royce ima suicide vrata... Stara Isetta pa spredaj. Razen če obstaj kak Rolls, ki se takole odpira.

Znamka BMW Isetta bi lahko pomenila čisto normalne miniavtomobilčke tipa Twingo z nekoliko bolj originalnim dizajnom, mislim da BMW-ju tega ne bi nihče zameril, itak je to enakovreden del njihove tradicije.

Še glede BMW tradicije, ker verjetno nekateri mislijo, da je to "BMW izum".

Isetta je bila narejena v Italiji, delali so jo pa marsikje, ne samo v BMW-ju.

Iso Isetta TurismoThe Isetta was one of the most successful microcars produced in the post-WWII years—a time when cheap, short distance transportation was most needed. Although the design originated in Italy, it was built in a number of different countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany and Britain. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a bubble car—a name later given to other similar vehicles. Iso Isetta (Italy)
The car’s origins were with the Italian firm of Iso SpA. In the early 1950s, the company was building refrigerators, motor scooters and small three-wheeled trucks. Iso's owner, Renzo Rivolta, decided he would like to build a small car for mass consumption. By 1952 the engineers Ermenegildo Preti and Pierluigi Raggi had designed a small car that used the scooter engine and named it Isetta—an Italian diminutive meaning little ISO. It is said that the stylists had arrived at the design of the Isetta by taking two scooters, placing them close together, adding a refrigerator and shaping the result like a teardrop in the wind.

The Isetta caused a sensation when it was introduced to the motoring press in Turin in November 1953, it was unlike anything seen before. Small (only 7.5 feet long by 4.5 feet wide, or something like 228 by 168 centimetres) and egg-shaped, with bubble type windows, the entire front end of the car hinged outwards to allow entry and in the event of a crash, the driver and passenger were expected to exit through the canvas sunroof. The steering wheel and instrument panel swung out with the single door, as this made access to the single bench seat simpler. The seat provided reasonable comfort for two occupants, and perhaps a small child. Behind the seat was a large parcel shelf with a spare wheel located below. A heater was optional, and ventilation was provided by opening the fabric sunroof.

Kolikor sem jaz bral je BMW začel delat Isetto po licenci in ni direktno njihova pogruntavščina. Je pa pomemben del njihove zgodovine.

ker avto, sicer mi je tole nekako znano nevem pa od kje, sicer je tole malček brez primere, a kaj ko bo cena tega malčka vrtoglava :shock: tako kot je ta za smart-a npr.

Potem pa esem nekako poudari (druga barva mogoče), da bo bolj jasno. Ker zdaj se očitno misli, da ne znaš črkovat.

Da dopolnimo znanje o glavnem Isettinem promotorju (edinem, ki se je upal? :P )
BTW - bil je tudi ljubitelj polke, morda je to povezano z Bavarsko in Isetto, morda je pa s svojo vlogo dal Burgerju del ideje za "Na sončni strani Alp".

Isetta je spadala v razred mikro avtomobilčkov (microcars), ljubkovalno poimenovanih na nebroj načinov - npr balončki (bubbles). Seveda je bil glavni razlog majhnosti majhnost žepov in drugih materialnih virov (po II. sv. vojni), kar pa ne velja za Smarta in Kei avte (Japonska) - oboji so novodobni nasledniki povojnih microcars-ov, vendar so za razliko od Smarta in morda Isette Kei avti bili stalno prisotni. esem, ne vem če bi se čisto strinjal, ali pa te ne berem prav...

Kei car (K-car), literally "light automobile", is a Japanese category of small automobiles, including passenger cars, vans ("microvans") and pickup trucks. They are designed to exploit local tax and insurance relaxations, and are exempted from the requirement to certify that adequate parking is available for the vehicle. These standards originated in the times following the end of the Second World War, when most Japanese could not afford a full-sized car yet had enough to buy a motorcycle.


Kei je več ali manj isto kot Micro, samo da ima druge omejitve... Oba sta se pojavila po drugi svetovni vojni iz podobnih razlogov, le na drugih koncih planeta.

Morda se nisem slabo izrazil - Kei avti so bili stalno prisotni (po2. sv. vojni) in seveda spadajo v kategorijo Microcar.

BMW se je dogovoril z angleško Bath University za oblikovanje majhnih dvo- tri- in štirikolesnikov. Če je to res, se Isetta očitno vrača.

BMW Isetta bi morala imeti ta novi 1,35L turbomotor ki ga BMW razvija pa zadnji pogon in bi bila uspešnica :)
