Concerning the colour of the 2 oils being different:

The base oils being used to make the Quartz 7000 10W/40 engine oils can vary from batch to batch depending on the crude and refining process used, this is why we do not use colour as a quality control check.

We check for additives being used in the correct amount as well as a lot of other physical and chemical tests to ensure that the oil is in specification before leaving the site.

Providing both bottles were sealed when you purchased them, they can be mixed.

The colour of the plastic bottles and labels also depend on the batches of plastic used as well as the labels and can also fade with sunlight.
