The MINI Cooper SD, due for launch in spring2011, will be the most powerful diesel variant yet in the MINIline-up. The new 2.0-litre engine developing 105 kW/143 hp– available for the MINI, MINI Clubman, MINI Convertible andMINI Countryman – will drum up even more power yet burnextremely small amounts of fuel. Motor sport enthusiasts will welcomethe new John Cooper Works Pack option also on offer for the MINI andMINI Convertible.

Furthermore, the customary selection of personalisation optionsavailable for drivers to configure their MINI in their own image hastaken on even greater proportions. The newly developed MINI Yoursproduct range offers a host of extremely attractive customisationoptions. MINI Cooper SD: Impressive on the power, frugal at the pumps.

The new MINI Cooper SD slots into the range above the MINIOne D with 66 kW/90 hp and MINI Cooper Ddeveloping 82 kW/112 hp as the most powerful diesel MINI.Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit produces maximum outputof 105 kW/143 hp at 4,000 rpm. A stand-outcharacteristic of the new diesel is its mighty pulling power, whichremains on tap even under heavy loads; maximum torque of305 Newton metres (225 lb-ft) is available between 1,750 and2,700 rpm. Add this to the excellent balance between output andfuel consumption familiar from the other models in the MINI familyplus extraordinary power development for a four-cylinder engine, andthe MINI Cooper SD has all the tools the sporty driver could ever need.

In its basic construction, the new 2.0-litre diesel fits the sametemplate as the 1.6-litre units fitted in the MINI One D and MINICooper D. Its all-aluminium crankcase helps to keep the weight ofthe engine as low as possible, while the turbocharger with variableintake geometry develops the right level of power at all enginespeeds. The engine in the MINI Cooper SD has a model-specific andextremely powerful turbocharger controlled by the engine managementsystem, while common-rail direct injection with solenoid-valveinjectors positioned centrally in the cylinder head ensure that thefuel is fed in extremely precisely and efficiently. The injectionsystem works with maximum pressure of 1,600 bar and ensuresoptimum mixture preparation in the combustion chamber.

The new MINI Cooper SD is also fitted as standard with anextensive range of MINIMALISM technology. In addition to theengine’s efficiency, features such as Brake Energy Regeneration,the Auto Start/Stop function, Shift Point Display, Electric PowerSteering and the need-based operation of ancillary components help toproduce outstanding fuel economy for this output class.

To ensure that its emissions are as clean as possible, the MINICooper SD is fitted with a diesel particulate filter and anoxidation catalytic converter. No extra injections of fuel arerequired to clean the particulate filter. And, as with all currentMINI models, the new diesel variants meet the EU5 exhaust emissionsstandard. Comfort levels on the move, meanwhile, are aided by thefour-cylinder engine’s low vibrations and harmonious acousticproperties; here, the particularly sonorous soundtrack of the MINICooper SD unit when pushing on through higher revs lifts it aboveits two diesel stablemates.

The 2.0-litre powerplant demonstrates its sporting credentials in theMINI Cooper SD with acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph)in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph). Thisoutstanding level of efficiency is reflected in average fuelconsumption in the EU test cycle of 4.3 litres per 100 kilometres(65.7 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 114 grams per kilometre. Thenew MINI Cooper SD Clubman reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) from astandstill in 8.6 seconds and also has a top speed of215 km/h (134 mph). The average fuel economy of the MINICooper SD Clubman is 4.4 litres per 100 km (64.2 mpg imp), whileCO2 emissions stand at 115 g/km. The MINI Cooper SDConvertible, meanwhile, highlights its sporting potential with a 0 to100 km/h (62 mph) time of 8.7 seconds and a maximum speed of210 km/h (130 mph). Its extra dose of driving fun combines withaverage fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km (62.8 mpg imp)and CO2 emissions of 118 g/km.

In the MINI Countryman this extra-sporty diesel engine teams up witheither front-wheel drive or the all-wheel-drive system MINI ALL4. TheMINI Cooper SD Countryman sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.3seconds, the MINI Cooper SD Countryman ALL4 in 9.4 seconds,on the way to top speeds of 198 and 195 km/h (123/121 mph)respectively. The front-wheel-drive MINI Cooper SD Countryman has fueleconomy of 4.6 litres per 100 km, the all-wheel-drive variantachieves 4.9 litres per 100 km. CO2 emissions are 122 and130 grams per kilometre respectively.

The models fitted with the new diesel powerplant come as standardwith a six-speed manual gearbox, whose ratios are tuned carefully tothe engine’s performance characteristics to enable powerful andsilky smooth acceleration. A ready-to-drive weight of44.8 kilograms (98.7 lb) makes this the lightest gearbox of itskind. Added to which, it sets a new benchmark in the MINI segment withits short shift travel and impressively precise action. A six-speedautomatic gearbox will also be available from launch as an option. Itsexceptionally short shift times and direct “target gear”finding capability on downshifts also allow the automatic to enhancethe sporting character of the MINI Cooper SD. The six-speed automaticwill also be available for the MINI Cooper D, MINI Cooper DClubman, MINI Cooper D Convertible and MINI Cooper DCountryman from spring 2011. In the interests of delivering theoptimum combination of engine and gearbox, these models will also bepowered by a 2.0-litre diesel unit. Close collaboration with the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars design team at the development center of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England has produced a limited-run special edition MINI, whose exterior and interior design is inspired by fine materials and the British luxury car marque's commitment to absolutely flawless workmanship.

The MINI INSPIRED BY GOODWOOD, which will be produced in a limited edition of 1,000 units, combines typical MINI driving fun with discerning craftsmanship, select materials and a styling marked by typical British understatement of the world's leading producer of luxury automobiles. Deliveries of the 2012 model year vehicle, which will launch as part of the exclusive MINI Yours product line, are scheduled to start in spring 2012.

The dashboard, including the surrounds of the central instrument and the air vents, the center console, carpet surfaces, the Lounge leather seats, the roof lining as well as the door, side and body pillar cladding boast the exclusive Rolls-Royce color Cornsilk, a warm and natural shade of beige. Only the upper section of the instrument panel, which is lined with extremely high-quality, soft full-grain leather, is in black.

The dashboard and door handle surfaces are manufactured in Goodwood and finished in Walnut Burr, a wood quality also exclusive to Rolls-Royce. The chosen paint shade is also used for the exterior mirror caps and roof spoiler of the MINI INSPIRED BY GOODWOOD. The exclusivity of the special-edition model is also reflected in its body design. The car's front and rear apron are the same as those found on the MINI Cooper S, but are combined with the bonnet from the MINI Cooper D. Twin-scroll turbocharged engine delivers customary MINI driving fun.

The MINI INSPIRED BY GOODWOOD is powered by a turbocharged l.6-liter four-cylinder engine that was featured for the first time in the 2011 MINI Cooper S. The MINI Cooper S engine ensures that the hallmark MINI driving fun and imposing power reserves are available on tap. The engine includes a Twin Scroll turbocharger, direct injection and variable valve control.

The 1.6-liter drive unit generates 181 hp and maximum torque of 240 Newton meters (177 lb-ft), which can be raised to 260 Newton meters (192 lb-ft) using the Overboost function.

The most efficient engine in its displacement class combines its outstanding power development with exceptionally low fuel consumption and emissions figures. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is all over in 6.6 seconds, while its EPA fuel economy ratings are 35 mpg highway / 27 mpg city / 30 mpg combined (manual transmission). As an alternative to the standard six-speed manual gearbox, the MINI INSPIRED BY GOODWOOD can also be ordered as an option with a six-speed automatic.

The MINI Clubman-based concept car, scheduled for its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show 2012, combines the driving fun for which MINI is renowned with increased load-carrying capability. The MINI experience will therefore find its way into new areas of life, the brand's distinctive character gaining new popularity among target groups not previously on the MINI radar.

The closed-off load area behind the front seats and the opaque rear side windows of the new concept set it apart most strikingly from the MINI Clubman, the platform used as its base. The MINI Clubvan Concept uses its broader skill-set to open up new usage possibilities – both business and leisure. Where a business's customers, product range or operating environment demand a particular style for its vehicles, this premium model can make the perfect delivery solution.

For example, a car in the mould of the MINI Clubvan Concept would fit excellently into the fleet of a fashion designer, art gallery owner or catering service. And its abilities as an all-rounder also tick the right boxes for a photographer with a stack of camera, tripod and lighting equipment to ferry around during the week – and bulky sports and leisure gear to pile on board at the weekend. The MINI Clubvan Concept pulls off the trick of blending enhanced practicality and a well-judged lifestyle focus with natural ease. This ability is based on the impressive adaptability that goes to the heart of the MINI brand's heritage.

Calls for maximizing the load capacity of the classic Mini began as early as 1960, just a year after the car's birth; and they were soon heeded. With its 10-centimeter-longer wheelbase (3.94 inches), separate load compartment and split rear doors, the Morris Mini Van was perfectly equipped for commercial use. It also provided the basis for the fully glazed, four-seat Morris Mini Traveller, one of the precursors of today's successful MINI Clubman. And so, more than 50 years on, the MINI Clubvan Concept sees history repeating itself – albeit in a slightly different order.

Two seats, five doors, endless usage potential.

Limiting the car to two seats creates the capacity its owners will need on a day-to-day basis, as well as opening up a whole new world of customization potential. The load compartment of the MINI Clubvan Concept embodies the car's fresh and rigorous interpretation of the principle used in the classic Mini – of providing the maximum amount of interior space on the smallest possible footprint. The load area reaches from the split rear doors right up to the partition grille behind the two seats. The totally level floor makes full use of the interior's depth, and that allows the concept car's load capacity to exceed the maximum achieved by the MINI Clubman.

Six attachment loops recessed into the load compartment floor use elasticized straps to hold items of varying lengths, heights and widths in place – without the risk of them sliding around. The partition grille, which is fixed securely to the car body, ensures that items stowed in the load compartment are kept safely away from the front seats. The lower section of the partition is made from solid aluminum, while the upper section consists of a silver-colored stainless steel honeycomb grating. The side walls and floor of the load compartment are trimmed in high-quality anthracite-colored cloth. The anthracite roof liner, meanwhile, extends along the full length of the interior. This uniform color scheme emphasizes the pure-bred, practicality-oriented character of the MINI Clubvan Concept.

Like the MINI Clubman, the MINI Clubvan Concept is a five-door car with a twist. Two front doors for the driver and front passenger, two side-hinged doors at the rear and the rear-hinged Clubdoor on the right-hand side create comfortable access to the interior. The Clubdoor gives owners the option of loading or unloading smaller items from the side of the car as well as the rear.

The generous levels of space on board the concept car can be exploited in a variety of ways. Commercial users will be particularly pleased to discover the scope for configuring the load compartment to personal requirements. For example, tools and goods can be stored neatly and securely in made-to-measure drawers or shelving units. 12-volt plug sockets in the rear area of the load compartment provide additional practicality.

Impressive practicality and the brand's time-honored style lend the MINI Clubvan Concept its unmistakable character. Sharing the exterior dimensions of the MINI Clubman and boasting cleverly increased storage capacity, the concept car is the first premium model in the small-car-based van segment. The exterior appearance of the MINI Clubvan Concept marks it out immediately as a MINI – and therefore as a premium product. The function-led design modifications have no impact on the car's proportions and hallmark MINI design language, but they do give customers the opportunity to combine the demands of commercial use with an appreciation of individual style. The MINI Clubvan Concept comes with British Racing Green exterior paintwork, which extends to the roof, C-pillars and exterior mirror caps. As is usual for vehicles charged with transportation tasks, the rear side windows of the MINI Clubvan Concept are opaque. Polycarbonate sections – their outer surfaces painted in the car's body color – and heavily tinted glass for the rear doors make it difficult to see into the load compartment.

The unbroken paintwork along the car's flanks offers extensive scope for individualization, which the MINI Clubvan Concept highlights to eye-catching effect. The sealed side windows bear the logo of a sign design company based in the MINI's native Great Britain. The hand-applied graphics lend the vehicle a personal look. Indeed, the ultra-versatile MINI carries both its cargo and the company's promotional message with a uniquely stylish verve. The MINI Clubvan Concept presented in Geneva lends this form of customization a piquant authenticity – on two fronts.
