Februarja 2009 je Citroën senzacionalno najavil prihod nove linije prestižnih vozil: linijo DS. Ta je že tedaj nakazovala enega od vidikov nove dinamike blagovne znamke Citroën, ki jo povzema slogan: Créative Technologie. Linija DS je linija vozil, ki dopolnjuje osnovni izbor vozil Citroën in jo odlikuje radikalnejša ponudba proizvodov za stranke, ki iščejo neobičajno zgradbo in stil, senzacionalnost in prefinjenost.
Samo eno leto po tem izjemnem dogodku in je vozilo DS3 že v Citroënovih razstavnih salonih, Citroën vstopa v novo fazo s konceptnim vozilom DS HIGH RIDER, ki nakazuje prihodnost te linije. Moderna vizija dinamičnosti, ki postavlja kompaktnost za temeljno vrednoto in odpira pot drugačni uporabi, novim užitkom v avtomobilizmu ter inovativnim tehnološkim postopkom, ki se opirajo predvsem na hibridni dizelski pogonski sklop "Full Hybrid".
