Ford Focus ST 2012: Surprise near the Nordschleife
April 12, 2011 at 17:35
The future sports version of the new Ford Focus (pending HR) was caught near the German circuit where she was to perform tests of taxiing and development.
Unsurprisingly, we find the elements found on the show car color copper presented few months ago. In this future program Focus ST, an aerodynamic kit, big wheels, Recaro bucket seats, but also and especially a new 2.0 L Turbo EcoBoost engine 250 hp strong successor to the 2.5 L L5 turbo that developed only 225 hp but suggested agréement a true mode of conduct as "cool" mode only "sport"!
This new 2.0-liter EcoBoost would allow Ford to announce better performance but also reduced fuel consumption by about 25% (~ 6.97 L/100km vs 9.3 L/100 km with the L5 Turbo) and CO2 emissions lower to 180 g / km (224 g / km with L5). More 3-door Focus ST on the future but as the images show, a version would break the program (sports station wagons from Audi or Mercedes would they have any ideas?) The new models sport that we should discover version "stock" at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in early 2012 before commercialization.
Remains to be seen whether Ford offers us again in 18 or 24 months, an extreme version with a future that could have only RS 3-door, over 300 hp and a hybrid! To see and to be continued ...
