The styling of the Mercedes-Benz CLS still looks fresh to this day even though it's been on sale since 2004. It’s a look many of Mercedes’ rivals are rushing to emulate, with prototypes for Porsche’s upcoming Panamera, Audi’s A7 and Aston Martin’s Rapide all seen testing in Germany in recent months.

Now a test-mule for Mercedes’ next-generation CLS has been spotted, revealing a few subtle clues about the new model. It is expected to be launched in late 2010 as a 2011 model, and it will also be positioned more upmarket to bring it in line with some of its more premium rivals. This will also allow Mercedes to introduce a second four-door coupe model, rumored to be based on its next-generation small car platform.

The car will feature a wider track, as indicated by the extended wheel arches seen on this test mule, and according to insiders its platform will be borrowed from the current S-Class sedan flagship. The first prototypes are due to start testing late next year.

New to the CLS will be a hybrid option based on the same powertrain as the one used in the recently revealed S400 BlueHybrid. Other engine options will include both V6 and V8 powerplants, and there will invariably be a high-performance AMG model.

Meanwhile, the styling of the car is expected to be similar to the current model although it will be bigger overall and feature some sharper lines, especially around the front end.

Mercedes-a nebi imel če mi ga daš zastonj......je jezno rekel možakar in se usedel v Kio ter se odpeljal

We have brought you many sets of spy photos that show us next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS.

All these prototypes have been wearing very heavy disguise and temporary body panels so it is very hard to tell how the production model will look like.

Based on spy photos we have created two renderings to show how the next generation CLS might look like.

So far we know that the new CLS will use the stretched E-Class platform and will follow the same coupe-like design. We believe that the new model will have a more aggressive design compared to the current model.

Power is expected to come from a wide range of sources including both diesel and gasoline engines. CLS BlueHybrid will feature the same engine as the new S400. Top of the line model will get the usual AMG treatment with over 500 horsepower.

Some of the closest competitors who are on the market by then are Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche Panamera and Audi A7.

aaa, ja. že 50 let delajo zmeraj podobne si avte. poleg tega če te ti dizajn ni lep ti ne bo niti ena mečka lepa. in tako je meni.

Meni je sedanji model lepši kot tale shop. Je res, da bodo verjetno razlike s conceptno idejo in dejanskim modelom, velike, ampak zaenkrat mi je bolj všeč obstoječi model. Mi je bil pa CLS na začetku res čuden, nekaj povsem novega, še ne videnega, ko ga pogledam danes, pa je eden izmed najlepših prestižnih "limuzin" na cesti, tako da se pustimo presenetit kakšna bo končna verzija, ki se jo bo mogoče potrebno navaditi.

Zakaj bi on letel iz foruma, ker je zgolj podal svoje mnenje? Potem bodo leteli vsi, ki pišejo "<XY znamka> so j***a"?

Zakaj bi on letel iz foruma, ker je zgolj podal svoje mnenje? Potem bodo leteli vsi, ki pišejo "<XY znamka> so j***a"?

Točno, saj je tudi napisal, da so njemu grde - pač njegovo mnenje. Verjetno se strinjamo, da se zelo težko ocenjuje izgled objektivno. 100 ljudi sto čudi, 100 žena 200 sisa :P ..Res, pa da ni ravno utemeljil svoje trditve

Spredaj se bo očitno približal cl-u, zadnje luči bodo podobne kupejevskemu e-ju, drugače pa ostaja zvest predhodniku. Razlike se mi zdijo pozitivne, to da niso velik spremenil je pa logično, ker sedanji še vedno zgleda povsem sodobno.
