think the car looks really good and is comfy, but the five star ncap only works because the car is never off the workshop ramps long enough to crash.

Great car to drive and handles well, but very unreliable.
-
An absolute nightmare for reliability could never trust it to get me where I was going. On average it went into the garage once a month.
-
I have very little confidence with its reliability and even less with the dealer network. It appears that everything is a problem to them; they offer no explanation to failures and fail to recognise the inconvenience of not having a car.
-
After the experiences I've had with this car I don't want to drive another Renault again. I'm currently considering switching from a company car to a private one, just to get rid of it.

Update to a review I wrote a review on the 2001 car, which continues to be a complete nightmare electrically. Two weeks ago I had a problem with the car which resulted in the brakes going hard and not working. I had to use the handbrake and a curb to stop. Luckily I was not going very fast. The car has been waiting for a part for two weeks now (since 5th Dec 02). There is no expected delivery date. Sometime early next year!! To cap it all the dealer called me to let me know that they had identified the problem. I could collect the car anytime and rebook it in for repair when they got the part in!! Let me reiterate, the brakes stopped working when the fault occurs. I asked him if he would be happy to drive the car, he declined to answer. This just typifies the dealer, who does not have the technical capability to handle such a electrically complex and unreliable car.

n 30 years of driving this is by far the worst car I have ever had!!!

I took deliver of a brand new Renault Laguna dci on 01 March 2002. It broke down on 02 March 2002 - and continued to break down 17 times more before I stopped using it.
-
A good looking, head turning car.
A comfortable quiet ride, with plenty of room for the passengers.
A spectacular array of driver friendly accessories.
Unreliable to the point of being lethal.
-
Radio has not worked from new.
Started taking 3 or 4 button presses to start the engine.
Complete failure of car at only 452 miles.
A friend pointed out this website (carsurvey.org) and I could not believe my eyes when reading the reviews of the 2003 model Laguna. At the time of writing this review 8 out of 10 reviews were negative. If only I had found this site earlier I would have saved myself a fortune and a lot of hassle. 3 cheers for carsurvey, which I will be sure to use next time!

It's a real shame that the car isn't put together a bit better.
-
I would buy ANYTHING else other than this again.
Every plastic part in the car rattles when driving.
The build quality is very low.
-
Big, unreliable and pointless French spaceship
Nightmare car, I can only imagine these things when they get older.
On the plus side, car is very comfortable when it goes, has a good turn of speed for large car and lights up like the Enterprise at night.
-
An utterly bad car
Sun roof and windows jammed.
Gearbox failed.
Dashboard rattles.
Car vibrates.
Windscreen wipers faulty.
Poor starting.
Erratic steering.
From a technical perspective, it has already suffered a number of faults. The sunroof and windows failed to operate properly after two weeks.
The dashboard rattles (and visibly moves) when I pull away.
It was reluctant to start, and stalled readily (the latter corrected itself without the intervention of a dealer. I can now pull away on less than 2,000 rpm!).
The gearbox is currently undergoing a rebuild, as it jumps out of fourth, and often feels like it is full of gravel. This rebuild, by the way, is going to take two weeks.
There is a noticeable vibration at most speeds, though the dealers say there is nothing wrong.
Is there anything good about this car? Yes, the head restraints are a superb design. Of course, they are the same as the old Laguna…

The dashboard is very ascetic and the material of it is looking cheap for a car in this price range.
