Combining sheer luxury with uncompromised performance, Legacy GT is a driver’s vehicle for those with an eye for excellence. Powered by an incredible 2.0-litre twin-scroll titanium turbo engine delivering 206kW of power in the 5-speed manual and 191kW in the 5-speed sportshift automatic with 343 Nm of torque. Both the wagon and sedan models feature 18-inch alloy wheels, body kit and a sporty dual exhaust system. The interior boasts sumptuous leather trim, aluminium foot pedals, electro luminescent instrument panel and spectacular 13-speaker McIntosh audio system, which creates the ultimate driving environment.
Subaru in New Zealand makes exclusive use of the horizontally-opposed Subaru Boxer engines in all its vehicles. Based around pistons acting in the horizontal plane to mimic the punching action of two boxers, this engine layout allows for a much lower block profile than traditional designs. The mass of the engine can be concentrated much lower in the engine bay, to give each Subaru a lower and naturally more stable centre of gravity. The 2.0-litre engine in Legacy GT features a twin-scroll single turbocharger with titanium blades, delivering lightning fast response times and jaw-dropping acceleration. Our normally-aspirated 2.5 and 2.0-litre engines also offer thrilling performance, through the use of lightweight alloys and a wide range of sophisticated features – including hollow-type camshafts, efficient manifold design and much more.
The extraordinary pleasure of driving a Legacy has been enhanced by advanced transmission systems. Direct hydraulic control delivers superb response while reducing ‘shift shock’. The result is a particularly sporty performance from our automatic transmissions – including Legacy GT’s high-performance 5-speed system – and a quick, direct feel in our manual systems. Low viscosity oils have been used to minimise the required shift force. All manual systems use a dual mass fly wheel to deliver smooth changes with reduced noise and vibration throughout the rev range.
Subaru has taken great care to develop a chassis and suspension system that delivers the best possible control and stability. Light yet strong and rigid structures have been used throughout, with finely tuned suspension geometry and dynamics producing outstanding handling. The advanced strut front suspension, multi-link rear suspension and power assisted rack and pinion steering combine to provide a smooth controlled ride and excellent road holding.
All Subaru Legacy models are fitted with the latest advanced engine immobilisers and DataDot technology. Approximately 10,000 microscopic dots are laser-etched with your vehicle’s unique VIN, then applied to the components of your vehicle via a patented spraying process. Front and rear window labels warn potential thieves that your vehicle and all its component parts will be easily identifiable for the authorities
