Dear 4 x4 Friends & racers. The 4th. edition of Istra Challenge is allmost here. So i take advantage to inform you about this race.
The "Istra Challenge" is an exiting and one of most difficult race in south - est Europe. It is organized by 4X4 xtreme club "Kamo oko vidi" from Buzet, Istria, Croatia. The race place is city of Tinjan, in center of Istra, Croatia. The race is going on for 3 days and will start at Saturday, 29.10.2005. In the same time the city of Tinjan have a lokal fest, so there will be 3 long days of racing, drinking and live music all night long.
The race is only Xtreme and trial with natural obstacle, no speed racing or road book is included. Every day there is a few kilometers of hard trail you have to do to join the timed special stage, but you are driven by a guid and referes, so no tripmasters or GPS are needed.
We expect over 35 vehicles to be racing this year ( all modified and well prepared ), so there will be closen selection with 36 vehicles inscripted and confirmed before. That for i please you now, if you have any interes to join us, make inscription as soon as possible.

The inscription expenses are 230,00E per vehicle with driver and navigator. Here is included food for 2 person for all 3 days of racing.

Europeans 4X4 Xtreme CUP REGULATIONS
The new regulations for EUROPEAN 4X4 XTREME Cup
Minimal technical condition
» Every SUV has to be insured, with valid license plate and all
.. regular main road equipment (lights, tail lights etc.)
» No leaks of oil or other fluid are allowed
» CABRIO has to have a roll cage (roll-bar)
» If there is a "hard top" than it have to be metal one, no
.. plastic or other similar roof components are allowed without
.. a roll bar
» TIRE 31" ( 79 cm ) or higher*
» The tire must be mud-terrain or similar (no all-terrain or
.. street version are accepted)
» Spare tire
» "Winch"
» "Tree trunk protector"
» 9m of "recovery straps"*
» "Tow hook" or "ring" front & rear
» First aid box
» Fire extinguisher
» Seat belts
» Helmet & hand glows
» Stairways are allowed*
» No "wheel Chain"“ are allowed
» The participants have to be at least 18 year old
SUV WITHOUT ALL THESE MINIMAL CONDITION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED TO THE RACE
There will be an serious check-in inspection before registration so please present all your equipment ready at start.
The race is concepted by one or more special stages, which are timed. Every special stage is timed and scored for him self. The penality is scored in time and adapted to each special stage separately. No help is allowed to the race team during the special stage.
..1. During the special test:
..» both the driver & navigator must have the "helmet" on at
.. ..all times
..» on the start & finish lane and during the race "seat belts"
.. ..must be fastened, even by winching or any other
.. ..movement of SUV
..» every one out of vehicle must wear "hand gloves"
..» for each violation of the above rules the team will be
.. . punished "10 minutes". The penality is multipled by number
.. ..of penality made during the special stage (also if done by
.. ..driver and navigator). This penality is called security
.. ..punishment.
..2. The winch cable must be totaly on the winch drum,
. .. .both on the start & on the finnish line of the special stage.
. .. .During the special stage the winch cable can touch the
. .. .soil or be anywhere exept in the cab. For each violation
. .. .of rules above the team will be punnished with 10min.
..3. For lost or misplaced parts on the track (including personal
. .. .belongings), will be punished "5 minutes".
..4. Any garbage or waste thrown out the vehicle will also be
.. .. punished "5 minutes".
..5. Traspassing the finish lane towing anything on the floor
.. .. (as winch cable, straps or any other belongings) will be
.. .. punished "5 minutes".
..6. Thrue the finish lane the navigator can be out of SUV and
.. .. pass before or after the SUV, the finish time will be the
.. .. last thing which traspassing thrue the finish lane.
..7. If track use markers as pin point or flags, anybody who
.. .. tears them down will be punished for each of it
.. .. "15 minutes".
..8. Each special test will have a maximum pass true time.
..9. When the special test is not realised or done in over time,
.. .. then the teams score will be 50% more then the worst
.. .. time realised in this special test. The security punishment
.. .. will be added no mater if the team is in overtime.
10. If the team during the race reach any kind of help
.. .. (material or manual), they will be punished and scored as
.. .. not realised time.
11. Before start of any special stage, to the team is allowed
.. .. to carry off anything of vehicle that they think is not
.. .. necessary for the special stage. Until trespassing the finish
.. .. line there is not allowed to touch this things. Do they touch
.. .. or use this things they will be punished as help from the
.. .. side.
12. If some team loos a member during the challenge for any
.. .. reason, they can exchange it with any other team member
.. .. from the challenge who decided to finish the race, but not
.. .. with the team who finished already all the challenge
.. .. regulary, and only with Participants which are in scripted
.. .. from the beginning of the race. The one who decide to be
.. .. replaced have no rights more to come back until the finish
.. .. of the race.
13. The driver & navigator can change their place between
.. .. them anytime during the challenge
14. The winner will be the team with the best overall time
.. .. summed together by each special stage on the race.
15. Short cutting the track or arguing and offending the
.. .. judges will be punished by automatic elimination from
.. .. race.
OTHER VIOLATIONS BY WICH WILL BE AUTOMATIC ELIMINATION FROM THE RACE:
• Not using the tree trunk protector
• Crossing meadows or field *
• Driving around on meadow doing "American circles" *
• Drunk or those who use drugs during the race
THE SCORING SYSTEM BY THE CUP IS SAME AS BY FORMULA 1. FOR THE PLACE CONQUERED ON THE RACE THE TEAM WILL BE SCORED:
1. Place – 10 points
2. Place – 8 points
3. Place – 6 points
4. Place – 5 Points
5. Place – 4 Points
6. Place – 3 Points
7. Place – 2 Points
8. Place – 1 Point
• The team with most accumulated points make a Winner of
.. the European "XTREME 4X4" Cup
• If there is 2 or more teams with same points, better is the
.. one with more best accumulated places.
• If there is still 2 teams with same position in this solution,
.. better is the one with the best position by the last race.
• Of total number of races in the cup, there will be scored one
.. less. Practicly one race with badest position will not be
.. scored to final result.
» The point is written to the in scripted driver by the start of
.. the race.
» If during the race the tandem: driver – vehicle are lost, by
.. the end of the race the driver loose the right on the points
.. of this race for the Cup.
» As an exchange driver or navigator of the team, he have
.. the rights for the price of the race, but not the points for
.. the Cup.
» Points for this race place are going to the next team behind
.. of him who finished the race regularly.
